The California State University, East Bay Human Resources for Healthcare
Professionals Certificate meets the specific needs of those who seek

Program Objectives
- To give graduates a comprehensive overview of the healthcare field,
including the types of healthcare organizations, the current and future
states of the healthcare industry.
- To provide graduates an understanding of the unique aspects of human
resources in healthcare organizations, from the competencies required
for healthcare HR professionals and the relationship between the type
of healthcare organization and the level of HR position to HR planning,
HR management challenges, healthcare employee development and healthcare
workplace laws.
- To give graduates a grounding in a range of general HR practices,
topics and requirements, from the methods of job design and analysis
and the relationship of JCAHO standards to job descriptions to lawful
and unlawful pre-employment inquiries and the steps in responding

Act and its healthcare-related provisions, the collective bargaining
process and the stages of the unionization process.

components of executive compensation to the challenges that confront
healthcare employers in providing benefits and variable pay programs
and the issues confronting the confronting the healthcare industry
in complying with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

the delivery of safe, competent healthcare and with it, the educational
